Which is more impressive? Death or resurrection?

Rajkumar, a very famous actor from southern India, died yesterday of a heart attack. The state government has declared today a state-wide holiday as a mark of respect.

Meanwhile, the resurrection of Jesus Christ our saviour doesn’t warrant a day off State-side. I’ll be working Friday and Monday.

Go figure.

It would appear that the code thingy appears about one out of ten times if I refresh the screen now that is weird.

Dan, you’re opening a can of worms here, what is it that one is never supposed to talk about?

It is a little funny that you don’t get the day off on Good Friday (whatever that is) because here in Aus both Friday and Monday are holidays. I’d say Good Friday ranks with Xmas day on the holiday scale (even hardware shops are closed – that’s a big deal here!).

Anyhow, why I say it’s a bit funny is because Bush and his cronies are pushing religion very hard are they not? Note their ‘intelligent creator’ mumbo jumbo in the schools – R.E. under another name. According to Wikipedia a whopping 76% of Americans are Christian (practicing? I doubt it) so why don’t you get Easter hols?

We get them because, let’s face it – any excuse for a holiday goes in Aus. Even good old Liz’s birthday. Cheers, M’aam ๐Ÿ˜‰

To your original comment, it would seem that someone loved and followed by millions in the present day is more recognisable, and their death has more impact on many than the probably highly exaggerated, if not completely fictitious feats of someone who may or may not have existed a couple thousand years ago.

Perhaps, but if they’re forced to make up the day by working Saturday, it’s not much of a holiday then, is it?
