The futility of the cricket

My wife keeps seeing the results from England’s 20Twenty matches against Australia on the news. This after our 5–0 drubbing in the Test.

Each time, she implores them (via the interactive medium of shouting at the TV) to "just come home", given the futile plight that they are engaged in.

I have to say that I agree. They should really have come home for Christmas to save some despair and eat some turkey

There was only one 20/20 match and there were 5 Test matches. Please take care with singular and plural forms.

As for your other comments, cricket, more so than any other sport, reflects life in all its variety. Life is sometimes futile. Should one just give up at these times too?

I think her comments were in light of the five Tests, plus the one-dayers, along with the recent 20Twenty.

Indeed one should give up when life seems futile. What other options are there?

you have to hold your head up high, even if life bowls you out for a duck.
personally speaking, I find being drunk most of the time helps.
