Bus stop woes

Bus stop designs annoy me. More often than not, it seems, bins positioned near bus stops are placed backward from the bus stop relative to the traffic direction, at a distance roughly equal to the distance between the front and middle doors of the bus. Here’s a picture of my local westbound bus stop as an example.

Because of this, when you alight the bus from the middle doors, as TfL intended, you’re oft confronted with a bin, and have to navigate either side of it to safely reach the pavement. Merely irksome for a regular passenger, but a big struggle with a pushchair and probably way worse for the elderly or wheelchair users.

Joined-up design eat your heart out.
